A GPS Tracker is a device that transmits location information and other details depending on the implementation. A GPS tracker operates on the principle of “trilateration”. GPS is a network of about 30 satellites, the receiver measures the distance from four satellites and pinpoint the exact location of an object. Atleast it needs distance information from three satellites to exactly determine the co-ordinates.

In this system GPS tracker transmits information like vehicle speed and engine status to the GPS tracking server over internet via cellular network of the SIM card installed in the device. The tracking server receiving location and other information at regular intervals captures location information and other details to plot it in a digital Google maps to show near real-time information provided by the device to the end user tracking the device remotely. Types of GPS trackers: The basic categories of GPS trackers are Data Loggers, Data Pushers and Data Pullers. Data Pusher is used for asset tracking, personal tracking and vehicle tracking system. Data Pullers are also known as GPS transponders. Covert GPS trackers and Vehicle OBD GPS trackers are some more types of GPS trackers. Advantages of real time GPS trackers: Real time GPS trackers are GPS tracking systems which utilize GPS satellites and SIM card communication to provide continuous location information for their users. As the most advanced GPS tracking systems on the market today, real-time GPS trackers offer many advantages over their predecessors.
